Biography

Genevieve Salvatore is a passionate, dedicated citizen who is ready to take on the responsibilities and challenges of elected office. She is a lawyer who built her own practice from the ground up after doing undergraduate work at the University of Connecticut, earning a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Hartford, and graduating from UCONN Law.

Born in 1971 in New Jersey, Genevieve moved to Connecticut in the mid 1980s. She graduated in 1989 with honors from Naugatuck High School.

Genevieve attended the University of Connecticut in Storrs where she met her husband, Stephen. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, and also specialized in urban geography and public planning. While at UCONN, Genevieve was president of Pi Sigma Alpha and served as an academic tutor to student athletes.

After graduating from UCONN, Genevieve worked as a Support Enforcement Officer and later as a Deputy Clerk for the State of Connecticut. While working full time, she attended graduate school at the University of Hartford and earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration. After completing her MPA, Genevieve went on to study law as an evening student at the University of Connecticut School of Law. During her last year of law school, Genevieve was invited to serve as the Clerk of the Court for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Court, where she helped modernize the tribal court system.

In 1999, Genevieve began practicing law in Hartford and working for a boutique construction practice in New York City. After researching many shoreline communities, Genevieve and her husband moved to Milford in 2002 because of Milford’s rich history and wonderful sense of community. Her son Geno was born here in 2003. In 2004, Genevieve opened her own law practice, which is now located on Milford’s beautiful downtown Green.

Genevieve has a wide array of personal interests that range from organic gardening to surf casting. She has been married for 15 years to her college sweetheart who has taught her not only to enjoy each day, but also introduced her to the game of golf, which continues to frustrate her to this day. Genevieve is an active advocate for food allergy awareness and research as a result of the severe food allergies which affect the daily life of her son. She is the Chairperson of the Connecticut Walk for Food Allergy sponsored by the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN). She is also the Chairperson of Milford’s Economic Development Commission, where she works to encourage growth of Milford’s businesses. She recently oversaw the creation of an initiative to promote local businesses called "Local Proud." Genevieve is also on the Board of Directors for the group overseeing the restoration of the historic Milford Diner, serving as financial trustee and legal counsel.

Because of her dedication to the Milford community, Genevieve decided to run for Mayor in 2009 to ensure that Milford continues to be the outstanding town that she chose for her home. Although unsuccessful, she remains active in local politics and community efforts.
